Versatile
Versatile is a Canadian agricultural-equipment brand founded in Winnipeg in 1963 and noted for pioneering mass-produced articulated 4WD tractors in 1966.
In 1987, Versatile was acquired by Ford New Holland. Through this period, Winnipeg-built machines were sold in blue livery under Ford and later New Holland badges alongside the Versatile name in some markets.
After Ford exited the sector (its stake ultimately becoming New Holland under Fiat), the 1999 Case-New Holland merger led regulators to require a divestiture. In 2000, CNH sold the Versatile tractor lines and the Winnipeg plant to Buhler Industries, with agreements to supply New Holland dealers during a transition period.
Today, Versatile continues to focus on high-horsepower, serviceable tractors built in Winnipeg, distinct from—but historically intertwined with—Ford and New Holland
